Two-time Olympic pole vault champion and current women world record-holder Yelena Isinbayeva plans to retire in 2013. The Russian is giving another five more years of top-flight competition before calling it quits. The year 2013 was chosen as it will be in her ‘twilight’ years when Moscow is holding the world athletics championships and she wants to end on a high note there. The 26 year old is doing well these days, and is planning to open her season outdoor at the summer’s world championships in Berlin. Recently the Russian has signed a new multi-million-dollar sponsorship deal with Chinese sportswear manufacturer Li Ning. Never heard of them? Well that includes me. Speaking to a press conference at her sponsorship deal signing, Yelena Isinbayeva predicts that she might be able to jump 5.30m in the future if all conditions are perfect.
