World Athletes of the Year 2009, Usain Bolt and Sanya Richards

There was no surprises as Jamaican sensation Usain Bolt was awarded IAAF world athletes of the year yesterday, while American Sanya Richards also won the award in her respective category.

Bolt was quoted, “I don’t consider myself a legend until I defend most of my titles.”

The Jamaican was referring to his next season in athletics where he is slated to face American world silver medalist Tyson Gay at least three times in the newly formed IAAF Diamond League.

The 23 year has won the award two years in a row. As for Sanya Richards, she last won it back in 2006.

The 24 year old Richards was ecstatic with the award and shared, “I am going to be dancing all night.”
