Two Oceans Marathon was held at Cape Town, South Africa last weekend and the event successful staging of the largest marathon in the country was marred by a death of a runner at the finishing line. It is believed a 55 years old runner collapsed after finishing his 21km half marathon, where he died of a suspected heart attack. He was brought to the medic tent, but the 911 medics was unsuccessful in reviving him. The marathon saw 6,000 runners completing the 56km ultra marathon and 11,000 participated in the half marathon. The women’s ultra marathon event was won by Russian twins Elena and Olesya Nurgalieva, while the men’s ultra marathon event was won by Kenya’s John Wachira.
