Al Jazeera’s Matt Rumsey meets ‘Polish Giant’ Tomasz Majewski, who aims to follow his historic gold at the Beijing Olympics with another win at August’s World Athletics Championships in Berlin. Tomasz Majewski (born 30 August 1981 in Nasielsk) is a Polish Olympic gold medalist shot putter. He is 204 cm (6′ 8½”) tall and weighs 132 kg (290 lb). He threw 21.51m, during the Olympic final on 15 August 2008. This earned him the gold medal, Poland’s first Olympic medal in shot put since 1972 when the late W?adys?aw Komar took the gold. Majewski is also the first Pole to win gold at the 2008 Olympics. On 25 July 2009 European Athletics in Barcelona he threw his personal best 21.64m. He has thrown 21.10m on the indoor track, achieved at the indoor competition in Chemnitz, Germany. This is the current Polish indoor record.
