Marathon champion Samuel Wanjiru charged in court for threatening to kill wife
  • December 31st, 2010

Samuel Wanjiru became the first Kenyan to win an Olympic gold for the marathon event in Beijing in 2008.

And now he’s in court charged with threatening to kill his wife, the illegal possession of an AK-47, and also to threaten to kill a domestic worker.

The 24-year-old was arrested last Wednesday after a report was made. He is now released on bail, and of course denies all charges, stating he was being framed.

Wanjiru broke the world record in the half marathon when he was 18 years old, and has won both the London Marathon and Chicago Marathon.

His case will be heard on 9 February.
