Rui Silva runs 3:44.38 to win men’s 1500m at European Indoors 2009
  • March 10th, 2009

At the age of 32 years old, Purtugese Rui Silva was some a decade younger than some of his competitors in the 1500m at Torino 2009.

But he showed that one’s age is not a factor when he won the 1500m event by the closest of margin. At the final lap, Silva was boxed in but found an opening down the last stretch and unleashed a kick that was too fast for the others to keep up.

This is Silva’s third European Indoor title after an absence of seven years.

1 Silva, Rui 3:44.38

6 Obrist, Christian 3:45.47
