A mother selfless act
  • November 5th, 2011

Today’s entry is somewhat athletics related, a rather sad one.

I was reading up on my usual track & field news online when I clicked a link about a tracker who died.

The thing is the athlete was a mom whose selfless act saved her son’s life.

Rhiannon Glenn Hull who ran for University of Oregon was in Costa Rica starting a school.

While she was swimming at the beach with her youngest son, both of them got caught in a rip tide.

Both struggled from witness account, and a boy rushed out to help them.

Rhiannon handed her son to the teen, and not soon after she was pulled by the tide and goes down under, seen for the last time.

Her body was found three miles away after a three day search.

So sad right. I couldn’t imagine what the kid might feel right about now. I do hope he doesn’t blame himself for not being able to save his mom.

My condolences goes out to the family.
