Powell blew the competition away in a time of 9.89s

Pedro’s Cup was recently held at Szczecin, Poland and saw top elite performances including some Olympic names to the roster. The blue ribbon event men’s 100m saw Jamaican Asafa Powell obliterating the field with a 9.89 seconds timing in the finals

In the men’s shotput Christian Cantwell upset Beijing Olympic champion Tomasz Majewski with his 20.92m effort. Hungarian Zoltan Kovago took first place in the men’s Discus Throw as his 67.66m throw upset the local favorite, Piotr Malachowski

Polish women pole vaulter used home advantage as she vaulted over two Russian favorite to win the event with a 4.60m effort. Polish men high jumper also excelled at the event as he heighted 2.30m to win the competition over Beijing silver medalist Germaine Mason

Polish 2001 World Championships bronze medalist, Pawel Czapiewski did an upset in the men’s 800m as he outsprinted Olympic champion Wilfred Bungei in the final stretch. He finished in a time of 1:46.75, a good half second faster than Bungei

Jamaican Melaine Walker saw no opposition in her women’s 400m hurdles as she clocked 54.55 seconds, a comfortable 1.5 second plus from her nearest rival. Dawn Harper won the women’s 100m hurdles in a time of 12.75 seconds. She was in control from the start and didn’t look troubled
