‘Blade Runner’ wins 100m Men’s Paralympics
  • September 12th, 2008

In the hunt for three gold medals at the Paralympic Games, Oscar Pistorius or more popularly known as the ‘Blade Runner’ because of his prosthetic legs has won the 100m men’s final

He won it in a time of 11.17 seconds, while American Jerome Singleton was close behind in 11.20 seconds and another American Brian Frasure was third clocked at 11.50 seconds

Pistorius before the Paralympic Games started, won an appeal in court against IAAF ruling that barred him from competing in the able-bodies Olympics Games.

However even though winning his appeal, he couldn’t meet the qualifying time for the 400m

But the 21 year old ‘Blade Runner’ is now setting his sights on his next 200m, 400m event plus adding he’s “looking forward to London 2012” where he’s trying for both Olympics and Paralympics
