It is not the first time that Japanese hammer thrower Koji Murofushi had his medal ‘upgraded’ after doping scandal resulted in other Olympic winners being stripped of their medals. Murosushi was awarded gold for the Athens Olympic after Hungarian Adrian Annus was disqualified for a doping violation back in 2004. The Japanese hammer thrower finished second to Adrian back then. And now with IOC recently stripping original silver and bronze medalists, Vadim Devyatovskiy and Ivan Tsikhan of Belarus for the hammer throw at Beijing Olympics 2008 after finding traces of testosterone, the fifth placed finished Murofushi has been awarded the bronze while Krisztián Pars of Hungary took silver.
