Asahara Final Race
  • September 23rd, 2008

Nobuharu Asahara from Team Osaka Gas was part of the 4x100m quartet that won bronze at the last Beijing Olympics.

It was the first Olympic medal for Japan in 80 years in track races.

Some might say it was just their day when the favorites got ‘tangled’ up with baton issues and disqualification but the bottomline, the medal is theirs for keeps

The 36 year old who was a former jumper turned sprinter will run his last race before retirement at the Seiko Super Track and Field Meet in Kawasaki.

He will run with the same quartet which won the bronze medal which comprise of Shinji Takahira (Team Fujitsu), Shingo Suetsugu (Team Mizuno) and Naoki Tsukahara (Team Fujitsu)

Asahara is a familiar face around the Asian sprinting circuit and has keep his speed and form well at his age.

He even recorded 10.17 seconds in the 100m event, at the age of 35 years old earlier this year
