At the UK Indoor Grand Prix in Birmingham last Saturday, Mo Farah erased the old mark by some six seconds. He ran 7:34.37 to beat his nearest rival Kenyan Shedrack Korir by more than four seconds. Farah lowered his own previous British record which was just set last month at the Aviva International Match where he won the race in 7:40.99. He is now the second-fastest European of all time, behind only Spain’s Alberto Garca who ran 7:32.98 (Sevilla 2003). The Mogadishu born British athlete previous major title includes silver at the European Championships 2006 in the 5000m and gold at the 2006 European Cross Country Championships. And now with the recent British indoor record in the 3000 metres, the 25 year old is set to be the favorite in the 3000m event for next month’s European Indoor Championships.
