Kenyan Martin Mathathi runs world-leading 10K time

Martin Mathathi ran a timing of 27:23.85 at the 2011 Hyogo Relay Carnival held at Kobe’s Universiade Memorial Stadium, Japan. The timing betters Kenya Jacob Wanjuki’s previous world-leading time of 27:48.74.

Martin Irungu Mathathi (born 25 December 1985 in Nyahururu) is a Kenyan long-distance runner, who specializes in cross-country running.

Mathathi won the bronze medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka. He holds the 10 miles world junior record of 44:51.
