Defending champion Russian athlete, Mariya Savinova wins gold in the Womens 800m Final during day three of the European Athletics Indoor Championships at the Oval Lingotto on March 8, 2009 in Torino, Italy.
It was a dramatic 800m final as Mariya Savinova came from behind from a very fast paced first lap led by Briton Marilyn Okoro who was on world record pace, clocking 27.7 seconds at 200m and 56.1 seconds at the 400m, but she ran out of steam.
Oksana Zbrozhek of Russia took home the silver medal, and Elisa Cusma Piccione of Italy the bronze.
