Update On Liu Xiang
  • December 12th, 2008

Liu Xiang and his coach, Sun Haiping back during Beijing, both dejected

It was a sad sight at the last Beijing Olympics as the Chinese star hurdler Liu Xiang was struggling to even get to the start line before deciding not to run his first round race by withdrawing due to injury; and in turn breaking the hearts of 1.37 billion Mainlanders.

Currently the 25 year old since then, have been resting and recovering. He just had a foot surgery which ‘smoothen’ out the Achilles tendon and is recuperating in Houston, USA, currently.

His coach Sun Haiping was seen aiding Liu Xiang who was on crutches after being released by the hospital last Sunday. During the media interview, his coach says that Liu has started training again despite on crutches.

He added, “The rehabilitation program will be on a daily basis and will focus on strengthening Liu’s right foot”.

Liu is expected to be off the crutches and wearing shoes in six weeks time.
