Li Yanxi broke the Asian Triple Jump record at the recent 11th National Games in Jinan, China with a new personal best jump of 17.59 metres.

The Chinese triple jumper previously won the silver medal at the 2002 World Junior Championships, finished fourth at the 2006 IAAF World Cup and won the 2006 Asian Games.

In recent months, the 25 year old was placed sixth in Berlin at the World Championships. His compatriot also did well at the games, Zhu Shujing leaped to 17.41m personal best and second place.
