Britain’s Lee Emanuel running for New Mexico University demolished his field of mile runners when he captured the men’s title comfortably. The 24 year old was in a two-man race with Wisconsin’s Craig Miller over the final two laps before Emanuel pulling away on extra reserves. Emanuel took the title in 4:00.36, finishing nearly a second ahead of Miller and well in front of third-place Dorian Ulrey of Arkansas, who led the rest of the pack behind Miller and finished in 4:02.19. 1 Lee EMANUEL SR New Mexico 4:00.36
