Olympic Women Hammer Throw Collapses and Dies After Training

Kamila Skolimowska was the 2000 Olympic women hammer throw champion.

It is reported that the 26 year old Polish athlete died after collapsing during a training session, in Vila Real de Santo António during Polish national team training camp

The report says that Skolimowska complained of feeling fatigued before fainting.

She however regained consciousness but soon fainted again.

Skolimowska was then rushed to the hospital but was not able to be revived by the doctors.

Coroner are still examining the cause of death.

Kamila Skolimowska was the youngest Olympic hammer champion in 2000. She also has two medals from the European Championships.

Skolimowska has a personal best throw, and Polish record of 76.83 metres.
