Current Swedish 400m national record holder stormed to a personal best in the 400m final. This is his first and long awaited international gold medal. The 26 year old best finish so far on the big stage was an eight place finish in the 2008 Olympic Summer Games.

The 21 year old Antonina Krivoshapka is a quarter miler specialist. She was the silver medalist at the 2003 World Youth Championships and her winning time in Torino was slower than her season best of 50.55 seconds achieved in February 2009 in Moscow.
