Lalova however nearly quit track and field due to a broken leg in 2005 after colliding with another athlete during warming up. She was out of the sports for two years. She only came running last year May and it’s an amazing comeback. She returned to top flight competition at the Artur Takac Memorial in Belgrade, by winning it in a time of 11.26 seconds
Standing at 168cm and weighing at 55kg, this Bulgarian sprinter is in Beijing Olympics now contesting for a medal. She is one of the favorite, and will try to erase her disappointing performance at 2004 Athen Games where she finished fourth in the 100m and fifth in the 200m, both finals
I think her parents are partially responsible for her talent, genetically that is. Her parent are Miroslav Lalov and Liliya Petrunova, where dad was Bulgarian 200m champion in 1966 while mum was a former swimmer and gymnast turn sprinter. But in that conducive environment and support, emerge a champion
Well athletics starts on Day 7, watch out for Ivet Lalova
