Men’s High Jump World Lead Stands at 2.34m
  • February 2nd, 2009

Russian high jumper continues to impress.

Russian lass Gordeyeva Gain gained grounds in recent weeks to be ranked #2 in the women’s high jump ranking after a fine underdog performance at the international jumpers meet in Cottbus, Germany.

Now Ivan Ukhov continues to fly the Russian flag high when he successfully attempted a 2.34m jump height at the ‘Russian Winter’ event, which is an IAAF Indoor Permit meeting.

The 22 year old has bettered his previous world indoor season lead of 2.33m for the High Jump by a centimetre to 2.34m yesterday at the meet, held in Moscow.

The 2.34m mark is now the leading height currently for the indoor season. The mark also makes him ranked tied for sixth place among the top indoor high jumpers of all time.

Ivan did try to attempt to break his national indoor record of 2.39m, with an attempt of 2.41m, but his approach to the bar was too close.

Ukhov’s coach Sergey Klyugin says he’s the man to watch out for at the World Championships in Berlin.
