It is up to Caster Semenya to opt for surgery if needed

Pending Caster Semenya gender final test results and should the results indicates that the South African needs a gender surgery, the IAAF is willing to fork out the expenses.

The athletics body and the world awaits the gender verification test results that was done during the World Championships in Berlin in August.

However it is reported that leaked reports has indicated that Semenya is a hermaphrodite, one having both male and female sexual characteristics and organs.

Currently the International Association of Athletics Federations learning from the Caster Semenya case that it is formulating tougher rule which forces a federation to withdraw an athlete from an event if the gender is ambiguous.
