It’s pretty common that some sprinters likes to play mind-games at the starting line by planning to disrupt the race with a false start. But under a new rule being proposed by the International Association of Athletics Federations, future false starts would result in immediate disqualification. Currently one false start is allowed in the race, while a subsequent false start by ANY sprinter would mean expulsion from the race. IAAF Council is meeting this week to approve the rule change before its being forwarded to the IAAF congress. If all goes well, the new rule would be implemented at the start of 2010.
