Spain’s Women Triple Jumper Carlota Castrejana Retires
  • October 25th, 2008

Spain’s Carlota Castrejana is the reigning European Athletics Indoor women’s triple jump champion and has cited the injuries and the hard process of coming back from rehabilitation as her main reason not continuing her jumping career.

“My decision to retire came when I looked back over the year and the effort that I put in to overcome injuries and make it to the Olympics. I don’t think I can do that again,” said the 35 year old Spaniard Castrejana in a media interview.

With Castrejana hanging up her spikes, her title is up for grabs now.

She won the indoor title with a distance of 14.64m last year in Birmingham and she still holds the Spanish women’s triple jump outdoor record at 14.60m.
