Kenyan set course record at Monaco Marathon

Kenyan Ben Mutai Kimwole set a new course record to win the Monaco Marathon Sunday yesterday.

He clocked two hours 11 minutes one second, eclipsing the old mark by some 25 seconds, set by another Kenyan Kenneth Cheruiyot back in 1999.

Second place was won another Kenyan, Jackson Rono who finished in a time of 2:17:50. Russian Andrei Bryzgalov was third (2:18:03).

In the women’s category Ethiopian Belaynesh Bekele won the women’s race in a time of 2:48:48.

Russian Ekaterina Fateeva had to settle for second, coming in a time of 2:51:29 and her compatriot Elena Kozhevnikova of Russia was third.
