The 37th IAAF World Cross Country Championships is currently taking place in Jordan today. The reports are coming in and so far the confirmed news is that last year’s silver medalist Ayele Abshero of Ethiopia has earned himself a gold medal in the men’s junior race. Some 293 runners took part in the category. Abshero splits was 4km (11:09), 6km (16:55) and 8km (23:26) He finished the 8km trail route in 23 minutes and 26 seconds. Not far behind, just four seconds away was Kenyan Kipjumba Mbishei who finished in 23:30. Ugandan Moses Kibet settled for bronze in a time of 23:35. It was a close photo-finish from onwards as Paul Kipngetich Tanui was fourth in 23:35, slightly ahead of his Kenyan teammate Japheth Kipyegon Korir in 23:36.
