Michael Johnson talks about how Americans consistently produce such great athletes. We only only envy the Americans, as we could learn a thing or two here. In local context, we’re already producing potential school athletes, but beyond that in terms of clubs and sponsorship, there’s a need for development and more support there, for these kids to advance to senior level without quitting early frustrated by the system, there must be changes. The local athletics scene to the media in my observation will only get the attention only when there’s a need to sensationalized it, like the recent AYG nominations with SAA in tow … yet another selection saga again.
Something is really wrong here, its not supposed to be this way. Rather than focusing on the sports itself, its the gutter politics within the sport that coaches and athletes has to deal with often.
