The Russian 2004 Olympic 800m champion has made an impressive comeback after a disappointing Beijing outing where he was eliminated in the semifinal. At the 20th Galan Indoor Meet in Stockholm yesterday, he beat 2008 Olympic champion William Bungei and Beijing silver medallist Ismail Ahmed Ismail for the win. His split at the 200m was 25.96s, where he was trailing Sudanese Ismail Ahmed Ismail. Borzakovskiy is known for sitting back and relying on his reserve kick. Well he just did about that. The 26 year old went through 600m in 1:23.24 with Bungei behind him. With the last 150m to go, he started his finishing kick and passed the young Sudanese. The Russian won it in a time of 1:48.13. 800m Men ‘A’ Finals Results
