Dr. Sanjay Sharma

We talked to Dr. Sanjay Sharma who is a top guy at Asian Athletics website. Dr. Sanjay Sharma has a BS and MS in Chemical Engineering and PhD in Info Tech. Mr. Rajesh Kumar has extensive experience on all web technologies, and has led the design and creation of over 100 websites. One of the core competencies of our company Qu Bit Technologies Pvt. Ltd (www.qbtpl.com) is the establishment and maintenence of sports-related properties on the internet.

  1. Can you tell us the history behind AAA website?

It was started in Singapore, but it was not being regularly updated as there was not enough staff at the AAA Offices in Singapore to handle this additional responsibility. In 2003, then the project was handed to us. We love sports and thought that we could bring together the large asian athletics community onto a single and powerful platform.

  2. What has inspired such a website?

We would love to popularize athletics in the rest of Asia. We are very inspired by the state of athletics in countries like Japan, and would like that culture to spread broadly. Sports, like music, is testing of the limits of the human body, and we believe that there is a lot of scope for inspiration, fitness, and sponsorships for supporting the upcoming and talented athletes.

  3. What is basically your job scope?

We are fully in charge of the AAA website regarding the design, hosting, content, and architecture. We intend it to finally develop into a community site where most of the members can themselves update news on the site, thus making the site easy for posting articles/stories and comments. We specialize in creating fully interactive websites that can serve as portals for communities.

  4. What’s the long term goal of this website?

The long term goal is to collect a group of athletics enthusiasts who actively discuss, share news, and trade tips on the website. We would like all the information regarding AAA calendar, results, records, athlete profiles, etc. to be readily available on the site in a timely fashion.

  5. Who are the people and associations behind this website

The association is Asian Athletics Association, and the rest of the main people involved in day-to-day maintenance of the website are Dr. Sanjay Sharma, and Mr. Rajesh Kumar.

  6. Where do you think Asian athletics are heading

As IAAF President Mr. Lamine Diack has recently said – this century belongs to Asia. China is a dominant force and by the time the Olympics are staged in Beijing in 2008, we believe that Asian Athletics would be on the world stage with impressive results. With the proliferation of television and internet we also hope that the success of Asians on the world stage will motivate all our member countires to best identify and groom their athletes. I think we are currently seeing the sun rise on asian athletics, and the coming times are soon approaching when Asian Athletes and Sportspeople will shine very brightly
