Top local athletics club, Wings Athletic Club has undergone a digital revolution it seems.

The club has seen it’s website revamped, and you can now follow the club on-goings in real-time or LIVE via their FaceBook and Twitter account.

I believe this is the first local club to embrace social media, and kudos to them for such an implementation.

The spokesperson for Wings Athletic Club when asked of their new website, he was quoted, “Wings Athletic Club will be 10 years this year in 2010, and as we all enters a new era, it’s time for the club too to renew our online identity and embrace the digital age; to reconnect, and interact with our members, fans and the public. Thank you for supporting Wings Athletic Club.”

On a hindnote, the club has been in the limelight recently as their athletes was at the recent SEA Games.

Out of the 15 of the athletics contingent, nine of them are from Wings Athletic Club, and of the two gold and one silver medals brought back, a gold is from James Wong discus, and the silver was from the 4x100m men, of which all four runners are from Wings.

Plus of the four personal best achieved in Laos, three was from Wing’s Amirudin in 100m, Scott Wong’s discus, and the national record by the 4x100m men.

Blimey it’s literally sending a club team to the SEA Games, my question is where are the other local clubs representatives.

It has come to a sad conclusion, that after all these years of neglect, the state of our local clubs are in shambles, the association has burned its bridges and all its ties it has to local clubs. Shame on you.
