Photo by Pandu Dewantara, Antara This is the ideal competition for the region top South-East Asian athlete to gauge their readiness for the upcoming December SEA Games as they’ll be competing with the same bunch of athletes in Vientiane, Laos. Thammasat Rangsit Main Stadium will be the venue hosting the event, which will be held this weekend during 26-29th of April. Indonesia as of now, have confirmed the participation of Suryo Agung Wibowo, Rahmadi Taufik, Akbar Asrul and John Herman Muray and Trianingsih. Suryo is the 2007 SEA Games multiple winner in the 100m and 200m men’s event, while Trianingsih is SEA Games 2007 5000m and 10000m women champion. Suryo is planning to run the 4×100m relay while Trianingsih will run either the 5k or 10k. As for the Pinoy team, they’re sending a seven-man athlete team. They are SEA Games hammer throw record holder Arniel Ferrera, Rene Herrera, Midel Dique, Julius Sermona, Eliezer Sunang, Joebert Delicano and Danilo Fresnido. There were two women in the delegation, but withdrew after both SEA Games long jump champion Marestella Torres and Mercedita Fetalvero suffered injuries. While for Team Singapore, I’ve no idea if they’re going. Revert back to me if anyone has any news. Thanks. Update: Team Singapore are going to Negri Sembilan open instead, forgoing Thailand Open due to the political unrest there.
