This year’s Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2008 has an added glitter to its roster of runners as 2007 Marathon World Champion Kenyan’s Luke Kibet is reported will join and run the race. Looks like last year Singapore Marathon winner, Elijah Mbogo will have a tough race this year eh. His winning time last year of 2:14:22 hours is a far cry from Kibet’s personal best 2:08:52 hours. But hey you just never know, Mbogo knows the route better than Kibet, I’ll bet it will be an even competition. The seventh edition of Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon has once again break records as it has attracted some 48,000 runners, surpassing last year’s 40,500 runners. Yes the number of runners has increased, so does the prize money, but the gripe most runners has from last year feedback was the route. With more money pocketing by the organizers, they could at least widen the congested route. Well I do hope this year’s run will be better and lesser human traffic jam. There’s still some 2,000 running slots left if you’re still up for the run.
