China Grand Prix in late April 2007
Been busy for weeks due to training and competitions. I will take some time now to let interested readers know what’s happening with the Singapore track team over April and May 2007.
I went to China Grand Prix in late April 2007. I ran 10.67s and ranked 9th overall out of 50+ competitors. I didnt make it for the finals. The format was heats > finals (Best 8)
Other results:
Muthukumar - 400m, 49.02s
Abdul Hakeem - 110m H, 15+
Wang Kan - Long Jump, 7.02m
Wan Lay Chi - Discus, 42m+

Next meet was Taiwan Open 2007. (2nd to 3rd June)
100m saw a few big names such as Japan’s Nobuharu Asahara and Takahara, Thailand’s Sondee Wacara (Asian Games 2006 Bronze medalist) and New Zealand’s Chris Donaldson. Malaysian also sent top sprinters, Nazmizan and Latif Nyat. I also came to know later from a local that their 10.32s man competed. 55 competitors in total.
The format was heats > semis > final but after the team managers meeting it was changed to heats > finals A n B. From the finals, they will rank us 1 -16 according to our times.
I came in 2nd in my heat (10.78) behind Malaysian Latif Nyat, 10.76
Other results are as follows:
Poh Seng Song - 10.84s
Gary - 10.92s
Iskandar - 11.28s
Jonah - 11.30s

I qualified for the finals A. The last qualifier was 10.80s if I’m not mistaken.
I came in 1st in Final A (10.68s) beating Latif Nyat (10.78s) and overall ranked 5th out of 16.
Other results
Asahara 10.39s
Sondee - 10.54s
Takahara - 10.58s
Chris - 10.64s
Next stop would be the Asian GP. Till then!
